In Heavenly Peace: A Christmas Poem

Updated: Apr 22

We missed you today mama, but this is nothing new.

I went shopping for pajamas and picked out a pair for you.

I looked with longing at those with their mothers,

If only they understood they hold a privilege like no other.

We put the tree up at home, it took me a few tries to get it just right.

We remember how you loved to sit and marvel at its beauty all throughout the night.

We hung the stockings by the chimney with care,

trying our best to not show despair.

The fireplace glows brightly, its flames fully aglow,

its warmth imitates your embrace, a love we will never outgrow.

As the memory of your voice echoes softly, I close my eyes to see your face.

The tender care of a mother, nothing will ever be able to replace.

Braedyn still talks about you, and all of the comfort you provided.

Your love of life's simplicities were but a part of why you were so admired,

You are one of the best angels that heaven could have acquired.

Living in the love you left behind, you are always on our mind.

The magic of the Christmas season, your love is closely aligned.

As we continue on each day with you in our hearts,

Your love is one from which we will not depart.
